The reports are published annually on the following institutional website of the Scuola:
VQR – Research Quality Assessment 2011-2014
ANVUR – the National Evaluation Agency – launched in 2011 the Valutazione della Qualità della Ricerca (VQR) 2011-2014 (the Research Quality Assessment (VQR) 2011-2014 project) aimed at assessing the results of scientific research in the period of reference.
The VQR is divided into 16 Research Areas; for each area, ANVUR has set up a Group of Assessment Experts with the task of assessing the research products. For the university sector, full or associate professors, permanent researchers and temporary researchers take part in the assessment, in accordance with article 24 of law 240/2010 and article 1 of law 230/2005 in service as of November 1, 2015. At the beginning of 2017 ANVUR published: the final ANVUR report and the reports relating to the individual institutions (report relating to the Scuola Normale)
Departments of Excellence
The initiative called “Departments of Excellence” was launched with Law 232 of 11 December 2016, article 1, cc. 314-337 (2017 Budget Law). The law envisaged that, on the basis of the Standardized Indicator of Departmental Performance (ISPD), the outcome of the 2011-2014 VQR, a preliminary ranking of the best 350 Departments of state universities would be drawn up by ANVUR. This list, published on 12 May 2017, included the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Sciences of the Scuola as candidates (with ISPD equal to 1) for the presentation of the Department of Excellence projects. Thanks to the ranking of the two Faculties, the Scuola Normale Superiore obtained admission to funding for both the research projects submitted relating to the Departments of Excellence 2018-2022.
